2006, the Car bug hit

The Summer of 2006 was one of those times when life was good, but change was needed.  Gas was going up, the Expedition was getting old, and Cheri was just plain bored with her Saturn Vue.   Enter a new car, one that would change our weekends, our circle of friends, and change the focus of our disposable income.  We stopped at our local Chevy dealer to see the new HHR "Heritage High Roof".  This was to be a car that would double the Expeditions gas range, give us a "commute" car and in general, get rid of the Orange.

Those plans lasted all of about a week.  Cheri fell head over heels for a daytona blue "Woody" HHR that the dealer had at the front of the lot, and we never made it off the lot.  Handed them a set of keys, signed some papers, and basically traded in one zero percent loan for another.  Within a week it was squarely a HERS car, named Mitzkity of course.  So after the first mod (dealer installed) was being started, we agreed to go look at a Dodge Magnum, something that had been in my mind for over a year and a half.

The Magnum was to be more of a tease.  Sitting on the lot at the dealer was this "show" car.  Already themed with custom painted flames, upgraded audio with NAV, custom leather, dual exhaust on a V6, and all for the basic price of a normal SXT V6 trim.   Pretty much all the custom work was "thrown" in to sell this dealer demo vehicle.  No special financing initially had me tossing the idea of owning this "beast", but unfortunately, her throaty growl kept me up all weekend, and finally I applied for an auto loan with my Credit Union.  Being the outstanding CU member I was they said, sure thing, sign here.   So with a check in hand, we went back to the dealer, had them add in a gold extended warranty and fogs, plus fix the nose-scrapes, and "Dago's Delight III" was mine.
